Unit 2-Atomic Structure Exam Monday!

Unit 2 exam is Monday! All of the documents that we completed this week are on the portal website. These should be used to study for exam 2

Use the Ch. 18 NTK and Atomic Structure Review as an overview. The notes and homework should also be focused on. Study your atomic structure quiz that you received in class today as well!

Here is the Prezi we used to cover the atomic math:

More details to come!

Soda Density Lab

All of you finished your soda density lab experiments today in class. Remember that this is due MONDAY!

Some information you need to know:

1. Class data: I have a set of class data from 7th period here: Class Data You can just graph this, regardless of your period. (The other two periods didn't load). I just want to make sure that you can graph, label your axes, and that you can compare densities.

2. Connections: Number 1, you need to convert lb/kL to g/mL. There are 453.6 grams in a pound. There are 1000 liters in a kiloliter and 1000 milliliters in a liter.

3. Connections: Number 3, the density of salt water is about 1.025 g/mL. Technically, this treasure WOULD sink so there is no error here.

COMPLETE EVERYTHING AND BE READY TO TURN IN ON MONDAY AT THE BEGINNING OF CLASS!

Next week:

Monday-Go over density lab, go over test, history of the atomic model, and begin facebook project over scientists that contributed to the atomic model Unit 2 Notes!!

End of Unit 1

After grading the quizzes from Friday on properties of matter, I can tell that a lot of you are not studying or doing your homework. There are a lot of Zs in the grade book! You NEED to get these turned in. You need to have all this in ASAP so that you can do well on the unit 1 exam! Doing your homework will tremendously help you on your quizzes and exams. Please be responsible :) Also, if you are absent, ALWAYS check here and the website: Portal website I have provided all this information so that you can get your work done before returning to class.

Wednesday, 9/7:
1. Go over properties of matter quiz
2. Mini-quiz over physical/chemical change station lab (IF ABSENT: there is a makeup sheet (physical-chemical station lab makeup) for you to complete on the portal website; if you were in the lab, then you need to show me your lab sheet that you completed in class when you return to class)
3. Phases of matter notes and phase diagram sheet to go along (on the portal website)
4. Jeopardy review game!!

-Practice problems
-Measurement lab continued (do the makeup lab sheet on the website if you were not here)
-Dimensional analysis challenge homework sheet: students should have made an effort on this and credit was granted. If you did not receive full credit, you can still show this to me for full credit!

Friday 8/26:
-Measurement quiz!!
Those of you that did not do so well on the quiz need to study before the exam on Friday, September 9th.

Monday 8/29

**If you were absent, you need to set up your notebook. The instructions are on the website under beginning of the year; it is called ISN intro. Also, you need to get credit for your homework by handing your homework sheet in (don't attach in notebook yet). This applies to all further homework: if you miss taking the homework quiz, you will need to hand in your homework to me so I can make sure that you did it and understand it.
